Eden to Egypt

The first great move of scripture is from Eden to Egypt.  Included in this move are creation, fall, covenant and the stories of Abraham, Jacob and Joseph.

This move actually includes several journeys:

Journey one is from chaos to order.  This is the story of creation in which God presides over the chaos that God has brought into being.  Out of the chaos God organizes creation in ways that make habitation possible.

Journey two is from the Garden to Haran.  Humanity is expelled from the Garden because of disobedience to God.  Once expelled the good creation begins to break down.  We find murder, jealousy and outright rebellion against God.
Journey three is from Haran to the Land of Promise.  Here we meet Abraham and Sarah and watch them being led by God to the Land which God has promised.  In this journey we discover the covenant and watch as God begins to fulfill it.

Journey four are the journeys of Jacob as he flees from his brother.  We witness Jacob be conned and con others.  Once again though the journey is one which leads Jacob back to the Land of Promise.

The final journey in this section is the journey to Egypt.  First we follow Joseph into Egypt after he is sold by his brothers into slavery.  Joseph is eventually followed into Egypt by his brothers as they and their descendants settle in the land of Goshen.
